In 1968, Mark and Don decided to leave and form a new band of their own. They recruited ? and The Mysterious bass player Mel Schacher, and renamed themselves "Grand Funk Railroad", inspired by a Michigan landmark, "The Grand Trunk Western Railroad". Terry Knight then became their Manager.
After a wildly successful performance at the Atlanta Pop Festival on July 4, 1969, the band landed a recording contract with Capitol Records. In 1970 they had sold more albums than any other American band, and went on to break the Beatles' record at Shea Stadium in 1971, selling it out in 72 hours.
Sometime during/after the recording of E Pluribus Funk, it was decided to replace Terry Knight with Andy Cavaliere as Manager. The next few years were spent in litigation over the rights to the name "Grand Funk Railroad" and song royalties. The band got to keep their name, but little else.
During this time, the band recorded the album "Phoenix", which they produced themselves, and added a keyboardist, former "Fabulous Pack" member, Craig Frost. Although not yet an official member, Craig added an extra element into the GFR sound, which would continue for the remainder of the 1970's.
JOCK BARTLEY, SANDY FICCA, BIL HOPKINS and STEVEN WEINMEISTER have been playing together in Firefall for over fifteen years. CHRIS BALL joined the band in 2002. In concert they can play over an hour of nothing but hits and radio recognizable tunes. There are plans to record a live CD to capture the fire and fun that sparks from the stage. They are writing songs for a new studio album which will hopefully soon become a reality. On February 5, 2003, the Firefall classic, 'You Are The Woman,' was featured on the Fox Network's hit TV show, 'That 70s Show.' The band's personal manager, Rick Alter of Nashville, Tenn., also manages Poco, Pure Prairie League, and the country artists, Pin Monkey and Chris Knight.
FIREFALL endures because of the strength and integrity of their songs. It flourishes because of the energy and spontaneity that is so evident on stage and in the studio. FIREFALL will continue as long as there are people who want to hear great music and great singers and musicians.
Big Daddy Weave entered the studio for the fifth time in their decade long career with a singular mission – to create a collection of songs that might somehow communicate the word placed on their hearts to the hearts of those who hear it. It might have been easier to simply try to recreate the success of their previous hit songs, such as “Every Time I Breathe” or “Audience of One.” Instead, the band set out to craft the most ambitious and varied album of their career by doing what they’ve been doing all along – refusing to compromise while stretching the artistic boundaries of what a Big Daddy Weave record is supposed to sound like.
When asked to describe their fifth album, What Life Would Be Like, guitarist/singer/songwriter Mike Weaver characterized it as being “all about expectations.”
The Name: Having a name that is a reference to Jesus Christ and His salvation is key to the ministry of Thirty Pieces of Silver. "Thirty pieces of silver is the price that humanity put on Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. We sold Him out for a pittance, when He gave us everything," says Tim Pratt the groups co-founder. (Zechariah 11:13) "It is especially fitting for this day and age when we put prices on everything. Just think, the Son of God was only worth thirty pieces of silver," says Dale Baty, the groups primary singer-songwriter. Thirty pieces of Silver have been together for over 7 years and hail from Lincoln Nebraska. The band now has three CD's out.

Edge of Forever is definitely one of the finest Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Acts in the U.S.A. This band prides themselves on looking and sounding just like the original band. The vocals, drums, bass, keyboards and guitars have been meticulously studied, polished and are served hot at every performance with their stage show presentation of one 3 hour, non-stop set of everyone's favorites with all of the stage and props and the pounding southern/blues/rock pulse of the timeless Lynyrd Skynyrd...
This act plays the larger venues which have ample stage space for the band and to be able to do it's show. Not to mention a place where you can seat all of the people who seem to "crawl out of the woodwork" to be able to see anything that even slightly resembles the world famous Lynyrd Skynyrd!!! Edge of Forever is a must see and the ones that are now believers that Edge of Forever seriously rocks the house!!!
